1. A man buys some shirts and some ties. Shirts cost Tk.70 each and the ties cost Tk. 30 each. If the man spends exactly Tk. 810 and buys the maximum number of shirts possible under these conditions, what is the ratio of shirts to ties?

  • A. 5:3
  • B. 5:3
  • C. 5:3
  • D. 5:3

Answer: Option C

Explanation:

810

=81×10

=9×9×10

So, highest number of shirts is 9 [if 10 then ratio becomes inappropriate and impossible]

Now, 9×70=630 taka

and, (810-630)/30= 6 pieces of ties

The ratio is 9:6 or, 3:2
