1. Total price of a shirt and a pant is Tk. 850. If the price of the shirt increases by 12% and the pant by 5% then the total price become Tk. 934.50. What was the original price of the shirt before price increment?
- A. Tk. 620
- B. Tk. 620
- C. Tk. 620
- D. Tk. 620
Answer: Option D
Explanation:
Let the original prices of the shirt and the pant be S & P respectively.
Then, S + P = 850 or, P = 850 - S
Again, 1.12S + 1.05P = 934.50
or, 1.12S + 1.05(850 - S) = 934.50
or, 1.12S + 1.05x850 - 1.05S = 934.50
or, 0.07S = 934.50 - 892.50 = 42
or, S = 42/0.07 = 600 TK.
