The troposphere, the lowest layer of the atmosphere where we live, contains the most greenhouse gases responsible for global warming. These gases, including carbon dioxide and water vapor, accumulate in the troposphere, trapping heat and causing the Earth's surface temperature to rise. 

Why the Troposphere?

• Highest Concentration: The troposphere contains the vast majority of the atmosphere's mass, including essential components like water vapor. 
• Gravity: Greenhouse gases are generally too massive to rise to higher atmospheric layers. 
• Direct Impact: Because this is the layer closest to Earth's surface, the concentrated greenhouse gases trap heat radiating from the planet, leading to increased air temperatures. 

How Global Warming Occurs Here:

• Absorption and Re-emission: Greenhouse gases in the troposphere absorb infrared radiation (heat) emitted by the Earth's surface and re-emit some of it back down, warming the planet. 
• Human Influence: Increased concentrations of greenhouse gases due to human activities like burning fossil fuels have significantly enhanced this natural greenhouse effect, leading to global warming. 
• Consequences: The accumulated energy in the troposphere leads to a rise in global temperatures and a wide range of environmental changes.
