1. In an examination there are 60 multiple choice question. For every right answer 1 point is added and for every wrong answer 0.25 points are deduted from the total. No point added or deducted for any unanswered question. An applicant answered 75% of the total number of questionsand got a total point of 30. How many answeres of the applicant were correct?

  • A. 28
  • B. 28
  • C. 28
  • D. 28

Answer: Option B

Explanation:

Let the number of correct answers be X.

Total number of questions answered = 75% of 60 = 45

Now,  X - (45 - X)×0.25 = 30

or,  X - 45×0.25 + 0.25X = 30

or,  1.25X =   30 + 0.45×25 = 30 + 11.25 = 41.25

or,  X = 41.25/1.25 = 33
