1. A Triangle has a perimeter 13. The two shorter sides have integer lengths equal to x and x + 1. Which of the following could be length of the other side?

  • A. 3
  • B. 3
  • C. 3
  • D. 3

Answer: Option D

Explanation:

We know that the sum of the lengths of the shorter sides has to be more than the length of the longer one.

Looking at the options, we can't have 8 as the value for the longest side because then this side would be greater than the sum of the other two sides.

Similarly, we can't have 2 or 4 as values for the longest side as it wouldn't be the longest side then.

The correct answer is 6 here, where the other sides are 3 & 4.
