1. If 6 and x have the same mean as 2, 4 and 24, what is the value of x?

  • A. 5
  • B. 5
  • C. 5
  • D. 5

Answer: Option C

Explanation:

Mean of 2, 4 and 24 = (2 + 4 + 24) / 3 = 10

Now,  mean of 6 and x,   (6 + x)/2 = 10

or,  6 + x = 10×2 = 20

So,  x = 20 - 6 = 14
